Video is king. In fact, we watch more videos today than ever before, be it on YouTube, Twitter, or FaceBook. Rather than reading lengthy stories online, today’s consumers want to watch their news and entertainment. Take a look at the ways we’re noticing the video streaming takeover.

Views in the billions

Just look around and you’re sure to see someone glued to a phone watching a how-to video, a vlogger’s latest, or a shoe review on Zappos. According to industry experts, more than 500 million hours of videos are watched on YouTube each day, with more than a billion users logging on. One third of all online activity involves watching videos. And more than half a billion people watch videos on FaceBook every day, too.

Streaming services

Those looking to bring streaming video to their living rooms will first want to check out NetFlix, Hulu, Amazon, and other streaming video services. By joining one of these video-streaming companies, you can watch your favorite shows and movies whenever and wherever you want. Certain companies offer live television as well, so you can also catch live news and sporting events, making it even easier to cut the cable cord and opt for a lower monthly bill.

A quick resource

But there’s much more to video streaming than just that. A quick look at YouTube will show you videos for just about everything. Want to learn how to fix an ache in your neck? There’s a video for that. Want to find out when to trim back the bushes in your front yard? There’s a video for that. Want to know where to book your next vacation? Just search for videos of your dream destination, plus get a look at rental properties and restaurants in the area.

Joining the trend

But consumers don’t only want to watch videos … they also want to produce videos. Just think of the rise of FaceBook Live, which allows people to livestream videos out to a growing audience. It’s easier than ever to start a video stream to grow your own business (and possibly make some big money!) or simply vlog to connect with family and friends.

You can even transform personal photos and video clips into professional looking videos but utilizing the expertise of companies such as animoto.com. With just a few clicks and downloads you can make a video of a special trip or party and have a mini movie ready to be shared with friends and family. Now that’s a video we’d all like to see and share.

Video streaming has become the preferred content medium of the time. It might transform our lives in more ways in the future!
